Kites
John G. Young, M.D.
I'm one with my kite
in the sky soaring high.
Though fast to the ground,
are we not both free?
Tethered to each other
like a child to his mother
who ventures when sure
of safety nearby
or one caught in a lie
who would then break loose
but finds himself tied
in spite of himself.
Must we only fly high
in adversity like the kite
which ascends when bound
to be free?
