Mea Culpa

John G. Young, M.D.

How long will he indulge

the guilt he possesses?

How long will he own

the transgressions he confesses?

When will he let go

and come to the place

to transcend the bondage

of their mutual embrace?

To forgive is to forget

is what he forgot,

for what he has now

is not a whole lot.

It seems such a shame

when guilt becomes blame

of oneself or another,

no matter, the same.
