My Shining Knight

John G. Young, M.D.

Beneath the armor,

foam rubber pads,

and sweat, lies a heart,

too warm but true,

my D, mighty

in love and caring,

placed on the rack

by God's uncaring deal

with the Devil.

My Jobena, on trial

for sins uncommitted,

not sleeping,

groaning in pain,

yet carrying on.

I don't know how you

do what you do,

your courage much stronger

than the armor you wear

and the difficulties we share.

You care, and that is why

I love you.
