Night Work

Marital Therapy

John G. Young, M.D.

"Though we both climbed

that mountain top,

They approached it as a task

as they turned out the light.

He even had to ask,

would it be alright?

"we arrived not together,

for I charged off

at a gallop

and she came not

at a trot.

Though after a while

there was some relief

with him on top

and her beneath.

"We might have come

together better

if instead we had fought."

But they never cracked a smile

at all that night.

Yes, to them relief,

hardly delight.
