Not Quite Burnt Out

John G. Young, M.D.

My love is but

an ember in the

ash heap of our lives.

The flame that burned

with optimism long ago

is now but a weak glow

in the pile

of unfortunate circumstances.

Tears of sorrow and weariness

have dampened the hope

that once burned brightly.

Let us rekindle that fire.

Remember so that ember

will not burn out.
